RUNNING FOR CONGRESS: Air Force Veteran Chris Armitage stops in Chewelah during “30 Towns in 30 Days Tour” during 2020 campaign

You may have noticed that some signs have popped up around Chewelah which say “Armitage for Congress.” That’s because veteran Christopher Armitage is running for Congress in the 5th district, opposite Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Armitage recently came to Chewelah as part of his “30 Towns in 30 Days Tour” in an effort to meet the people of his district. Local visits also included Republic, Colville, Kettle Falls, Newport and many more.
The Armitage campaign is a grass-roots effort which refuses to take donations from corporations. Many have asked the Air Force veteran how he expects to defeat the longtime incumbent when Lisa Brown was unable to. “I think that the people of Eastern Washington are ready for a political outsider and ready for the working class to represent us,” Armitage explained. “It shouldn’t just be wealthy people; nurses, teachers, and tradesmen should be in Congress. That represents the U.S., not just wealthy politicians.”
