On a snowy Saturday in March, I headed over Tiger Pass to Metaline Falls for the Bigfoot Town Hall Meeting at the historic Cutter Theatre. As I drove into town, I wondered if anyone would actually be in attendance. Much to my surprise, I couldn’t find a parking space.

When I entered the theatre, every seat was full. I’d heard they were accepting a capacity of 155, and I was told later that there were 170 in attendance. That worked out to nearly 70 percent of the town’s population. But not everyone there was from Metaline Falls. Some folks had come from Idaho, Seattle, Oregon, Montana and even California. A few of the attendees had experienced close encounters; others just wanted to know more. In most cases, people I spoke to didn’t want to give me their full names, so we went by first names only. In one case, a gentleman named Wally who, when I asked him for his last name, told me it was the Hobbit Sasquatch Hunter. I’ll admit, that threw me for a bit of a loop.

I unfortunately missed the first hour of the meeting due to a schedule conflict and came in while Dr. J. Robert Alley was speaking. Dr. Alley’s credentials were impressive, with degrees in a number of disciplines including…
